The cold warBefore the end of WWII the closeness of the Allies began to splinter apart. Even as they attempted to heal the wounds of the war, the mistrust between the East and West began to become more and more apparent. Finally, by the end of 1947 the "iron curtain" began to be drawn between the two sides. This curtain would last for the next four decades.
In this unit we'll be examining how this Cold War began. How do you wage a political and ideological war rather than a military one? And why did occasional proxy wars break out? We'll also be taking a look at life in America in the early decades of the Cold War. What were the social ramifications of WWII? |
