Welcome back juniors! I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are ready to get back into the swing of things.
This year we'll be studying U.S. History which is one of my favorite subjects to learn and teach about. Over the course of this school year we'll be discussing and examining not just the major events of our nation's history but also the aspects that feed into American culture and what it means to BE and American. We'll take a look at the good, the bad, and everything in between that has brought us as a country to where we are today.
To begin with, this term we'll be examining the foundations of our country. Who were the people that established this country? How did we go from being a rag-tag band of colonies to a new experiment in democracy? And why did our founding fathers set things up the way that they did? Then we'll begin to take a look at how we went from the theoretical roots and documents of our country to the practical way the nation began to develop.
I look forward to our year together and getting to know each of you. See you in class!
