World Civilizations is a comprehensive study of the human experience from the emergence of early civilizations through the Renaissance to the world of today. As such it is designed as a survey course. This means that over the course of the year we will trace developments in economic and political systems, examine how the geography of the world influenced their development, and explore how the world has emerged with such diverse cultures. Although we won’t go into great depth on any subject, you should gain a better understanding of the complex issues and global interactions that face leaders and citizens today.
You should have all received your portfolio list in class recently. Remember that you need to collect all the items on that list into a 3 ring binder with a cover page with your name, class, and period. Most of the items listed are things we did in class, except for the portfolio activity. This term you have the option of picking between an art analysis project and creating a mock tombstone and obituary for one of the historical figures from the Renaissance era. Below you will find copies of the portfolio list as well as the instructions for your portfolio activity. Let me know if you have any questions! Portfolios are due March 2nd (A-day) and 3rd (B-day)
