Just in case you missed something, here is the slideshow I created for the World Religions review. It has more information on the historical aspects of each religion and includes all of the key terms. Feel free to use this to fill in any gaps. If you have any questions, you know where to find me!

As you get ready to write your first essay, you may discover that you need a little more information on one of the civilizations in order to provide enough evidence and support for your claims. If so, here are the presentations from each of the groups along with their citations in case you want to review or get a little more specific. Don't feel like you have to do outside research! You should have what you need already, this is just in case you missed a class or a bit of information.
Here we are almost to mid-term already! In preparation - and to help you stay organized - here is the portfolio list for this term. It will have all the required elements as well as suggestions on how to get the best possible grade. Please make sure that you pay attention to the due dates of October 18th & 19th. Remember these are considered a project, and are therefore weighted at 25% of your grade, so turn them in (on time) to ensure that you keep the grade you've been working toward. Also, for the portfolio activity use the templates found through the following link to create your social media page surrounding a historical figure or event. As always, let me know if you have any questions. Onward & upward!
Welcome everyone to NUAMES and World Civilizations! I'm really excited to be teaching this course again this year and can't wait to meet you all!
In case you weren't already aware, World Civilizations is a comprehensive study of the human experience from the emergence of early civilizations through the Renaissance to the world of today. Because that's a WHOLE LOT of information to try and cover in just a year, it is designed as a survey course. This means that over the course of the year we will trace developments in economic and political systems, examine how the geography of the world influenced their development, and explore how the world has emerged with such diverse cultures. Although we won’t go into great depth on any subject, you should gain a better understanding of the complex issues and global interactions that face leaders and citizens today. I sincerely look forward to getting to know all of you over the course of this year. See you in class! |
