In case you weren't already aware, World Civilizations is a comprehensive study of the human experience from the emergence of early civilizations through the Renaissance to the world of today. Because that's a WHOLE LOT of information to try and cover in just a year, it is designed as a survey course. This means that over the course of the year we will trace developments in economic and political systems, examine how the geography of the world influenced their development, and explore how the world has emerged with such diverse cultures. Although we won’t go into great depth on any subject, you should gain a better understanding of the complex issues and global interactions that face leaders and citizens today.
I sincerely look forward to getting to know all of you over the course of this year. See you in class!
